Objective: To determine the effects of balance and mobility exercises on gait speed and energy expenditure (Physiological Cost Index) during walking in aging adults 65 years and older).Design: A quasi-experimental interventional clinical trial, using pretest-posttest design to test the effect of the intervention on gait-speed and energy expenditure.
Participants: 35 subjects (14 male and 21 female) were recruited using Convenience sampling from a day care centre. The mean age of subjects was 70.03 (S.D=4.71) years; range 65 to 87 years.
Intervention: Subjects participated in a program of structured balance and mobility exercises, sixty minutes per day, five days a week, for six weeks. This was a group based program supervised by a physiotherapist.
Main outcome measures: Gait speed (in meters per minute) and Physiological Cost Index (in beats per meter) during walking on 20 meter walkway.
Results: When the subjects were compared for improvement in gait speed between pre-exercise (46.79±09.96) to post-exercise (51.09±11.16) and Physiological Cost Index (PCI) between pre-exercise (0.36±0.10) to post-exercise (0.27±0.09), a significant difference obtained (p=.001).
Conclusion: The balance and mobility exercise intervention resulted in a significant improvement in gait-speed and reduction in the energy expenditure during walking in healthy ageing adults.

To study the efficacy of tibial nerve neurodynamic mobilization as compared to control intervention on vibration thresholds, neuropathic pain severity, tibial nerve neurodynamic test range of motion and neuropathy specific quality of life (NeuroQoL) in type-II Diabetes Mellitus (DM) with neuropathic pain.
MethodsThirty two patients of age (60.12 ± 11.41years), both gender (13 male, 19 female) were selected on convenient sampling. Subjects were selected based on following: Physician diagnosed type-II DM of atleast two years duration; complaint of neuropathic pain (screened using neuropathic pain questionnaire- NPQ) in the legs and feet; mechanical behavior of neuropathic pain (aggravated and/or relieved by movements); ability to understand and co-operate for instructions of tester. The independent blinded observer then recorded neuropathic pain intensity on NPQ, tibial nerve neurodynamic test range of motion at initial resistance R1, vibration thresholds by Biothesiometry and NeuroQoL. The subjects then were randomized to receive either of two interventions- control and experimental. The control group received drugs for glycemic control, analgesics for neuropathic pain, lifestyle modification and walking exercise prescription. The experimental group received in addition, tibial nerve neurodynamic mobilization consisting of nerve massage, sliders and tensioners. The treatment session was of 45 min duration on five sessions (one session per week) for total study duration of five weeks. Data was collected twice- pre and post intervention and analyzed using students’ t-test.
ResultsThe experimental group showed significant improvements post treatment in all the four study outcomes. The betweengroup mean differences were NPQ (18.89 ± 2.46), neurodynamic range of motion (4.00 ± 3.85 degrees), vibration threshold (5.94 ± 1.12 volts) and NeuroQoL (15.93 ± 2.85) in favour of experimental group.
ConclusionTibial nerve neurodynamic mobilization comprising of nerve massage, sliders and tensioners was shown to be an effective treatment adjunct for diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain.

Delineation of shear zones and fracture systems in hard rock areas is essential in locating potential groundwater zones. The Mu1tichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) is a new developing seismic geophysical technique, which has now been widely used in imaging shallow subsurface, in terms of shear wave velocity. We test its potentiality in Hyderabad granite terrain, at Wailapally watershed, for delineating shear zones and fractures in a shallow granite basement covered with thin weathering and alluvium cover. Surface wave data were obtained at three sites using 24 channel seismograph, and were used to model the shear wave velocity of the subsurface. The study clearly demarcates the bedrock depths, shear zones or faults, fractures, weathering and soi1 covers in the shallow subsurface up to a depth of -30 m, the results are also in good agreement with the surface geological observations. Therefore, the MASW is an excellent geophysical tool that can clearly demarcate the shallow structures favorable for groundwater in hard rock areas.Keywords

Carbonate veins up to few metres thick have been recognised in the E-W striking Salem-Attur deep fault zone which represents the eastern extention of the Moyar fault in the southern granulite terrane of India. X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectroscopy and chemical analyses show calcite, ankerite, siderite and benstonite as dominant minerals besides minor apatite and green biotite. Whole rock compositions show enrichment of light REE, Ba, Sr and Nb. C and 0 isotopic data determined for calcite (δ13C= -4.9 to -5.1%0 V-PDB and δ180 = 9 to 9.2%0 V-SMOW) points to a mantle origin. The chemical characteristics therefore suggest that the carbonate veins have carbonatitic affinity. The FTIR spectra provide evidence for presence of H20 and CH4 in addition to CO2 in the carbonate minerals of these veins.Keywords

The main objective of this project is to improve the patient monitoring system and to enhance portability of health records. This is achieved by collecting a patient’s parameter using a controller and transmitting it to a computer through a wireless link. Here the computer acts as an internet gateway. Through our computer we update it to a remote server from which the data are made available through a webpage to restricted users. In our project we implement this by a model. We acquire two important patient parameters, body temperature and heart pulse. The sensed analog values are digitized using the ADC inbuilt in a PIC microcontroller. The microcontroller then forwards these values to its serial port to which a zigbee is connected. At the receiver end a receiver zigbee is used to receive the values and transmit to the computer. Using VB an application is created, which displays received values and data are updated to the server using the same.data is made available to the clients through a browser in secured manner.Keywords

Now-a-days the demand on the operating speed of the devices with larger number of input/output pins is increasing by leaps and bounds. As the devices become faster, their output switching time decreases and causes the “Ground Bounce”. This effect threatens the operation of high-speed digital systems by causing false triggering and affects the signal integrity. This paper investigates the mechanisms causing ground bounce in PCB by deriving equivalent circuit. The techniques of reducing ground bounce are described.Time domain analysis of ground bounce has been performed for multiple traces using SPICE simulation tool.

A complete framework and findings are presented in mining web usage patterns from web log files of a real web site that has all the challenging aspects of real-life web usage mining, including evolving user profiles and external data describing anontology of the web content. The behavior of a web site's users may change so quickly that attempting to make predictions, according to the frequent patterns coming from the analysis of an access log file, becomes challenging. In order for the obsolescence of the behavioral patterns to become as possible, the ideal method would provide frequent patterns in real time, allowing the result to be available immediately. Even though the web site under study is part of a nonprofit organization that does not "sell" any products, it was crucial to understand "who" the users Ire, "what" they looked at, and "how their interests changed with time," all of which are important questions in Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Hence, this is a present approach for discovering and tracking evolving user profiles here also describes how the discovered user profiles can be enriched with explicit information need that is inferred from search queries extracted from web log data. An objective validation strategy is also used to assess the quality of the mined profiles, in particular their adaptability in the face of evolving user behavior. In this paper a method allowing to find frequent behavioral patterns in real time, whatever the number of connected users is.- An Efficient Genome Sequence Function Prediction Using LDPC Decoding Algorithm

Current scenario mainly focuses disease based on genetic. Hence Genome sequence research field concentrated to find a solution for gene sequence analysis and gene function prediction. Now Signal processing field invade this domain and make ease to get optimized solution for the Genetic problem. The proposed work is predicted the Gene function with the help of information coding theory and Neural network concepts. Extended min sum product algorithm (EMS) is used to decode the LDPC (Low density parity check code) and is proven its BER performance near to Shannon limit. On other hand, Extreme learning machine (ELM) and SOM (Self organizing map) in neural network plays vital role in pattern recognition with high speed and less number neurons. So the integration of the two algorithms going to revolute in Gene function prediction and sequence detection. The proposed work is exploited the EMS algorithm efficiency to decode the Genetic ATPG information. DNA Group testing treated analogously to the stochastic Hopfield network with SOM which will reduce error in DNA library. Moreover the work is projected on the lower bounds of DNA word set, results improvement of DNA sequence detection from pooling experiment.Keywords

Crossbar architectures for packet network switches have become very popular in the networking industry. Crossbar switches are used to route and switch data through a packet network. Their speed and performance are of significant importance. The increasing complexity of integrated circuits drives the research of new intra-chip interconnection architectures. To solve this problem together with the bottleneck problem of arbitration based buses, a novel approach in network-on-a-chip interconnect has been investigated. A network-on-chip adapts concepts originated in the distributed systems and computer networks subject areas to connect IP cores in a structured and scalable way, pursuing the goal of achieving superior bandwidth to conventional intra-chip bus architectures. This paper presents the design of a switch targeted to a mesh interconnection topology. Each switch has 5 bi-directional ports, connecting 4 neighbor switches and a local IP core. They employ a XY routing algorithm, with input queue buffers. The main objective is to develop a switch with a small area, enabling its immediate practical use. The switch and a 2×2 mesh network is simulated through VERILOG.Keywords

Growing utilization of enzymes in different industries for bioremediation of xenobiotics encourages the search for high benefit/cost ratio immobilization techniques. Extremely simple procedures for the rapid preparation of magnetic nanoparticle enzyme carriers have been developed and used for the immobilization of laccase as model enzyme. In this study, magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) are used in order to obtain a versatile supporting material for enzyme immobilization. MNP size and morphologies were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX). The magnetically separable nanoscaled enzyme catalysts show decreased masstransfer resistance and improved operational and storage stability. It should be emphasized that the main advantage of this versatile carrier is the possibility of its recovery with effective separation (even up to 5 s) from the reaction mixture with the use of magnet. This magnetic nanobiocatalyst rapidly decolorized 41-96 % of remazol brilliant blue R (RBBR) initially at 50 ppm at 20°C and pH 7.0, when 0.2 U/ml of magnetic laccase was used. UV-Vis spectroscopy analysis confirmed the biotransformation of dyes into several degraded products. The properties of magnetic nanobiocatalysts allow for better optimization and may reduce the total costs of the decolorization of dyes.Keywords
